About Wyoming Wood Carvings and the Artist- Leonard Roberts:

Leonard Roberts has been carving for over 25 years- What started as a gift of carving tools became a love affair when Leonard’s wife gave him a book by Harold Enlow on carving caricatures.

Leonard was eventually referred to The Doane by Keith Morrill, a caricature artist and resident carver at the Custer, South Dakota Woodcarving Museum. The Doane is held at the University of Nebraska and is the longest running wood carving seminar in the country. Since that time, Leonard has taken carving classes from such notable caricature carvers as Bob Travis, Dave Stetson, Phil and Vicki Bishop, Floyd Rhadigan, Desiree Hajiny, and Marv Kaisersatt.

Roberts has won numerous awards including a best of show and best of class and best of division at the Billings, Montana chapter of the Montana Woodcarvers Show and enjoys doing commission work in which a carving is created that depicts a certain aspect or activity of a person’s life.
