Max Maxfield - Republican

Max Maxfield grew up in Wisconsin where he graduated from Janesville High School in 1963. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Steven's Point and Whitewater.

His career in public service has spanned nonprofit, public and private sectors. Max was a YMCA director for twenty years, former director of the Wyoming Recreation Commission, and the first appointed director of the Wyoming Department of Commerce - a position he held for five years. More recently, Max served as the Executive Director of the Wyoming Make-A-Wish Foundation and as a financial consultant for various nonprofit agencies across the country.

Max and his wife Gayla make community and church an important part of their daily lives. Max is a certified Lay Speaker, past president of the Staff Parish Board and a Stephen Minister of the First United Methodist Church. He has served a wide range of other organizations, including United Way of Laramie County, Wyoming Children's Society, Crimestoppers and the Wyoming Alzheimer's Association, Special Olympics of Wyoming. Max is a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Andrew Simons - Democrat

I'm Andrew Simons and I am the Democratic Party's candidate running for Secretary of State in Wyoming. I currently live in Laramie, home to the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Cowboys. Since moving to Wyoming, I have also had the pleasure of living in Sheridan and enjoyed visiting the many historic sites in and around the city, including Fort Phil Kearny and the beautiful Sheridan Inn.

I've worked on campaigns from the national to the local level, but decided to affect change by running for office. As a young person in Wyoming, I see my generation as Wyoming's future and I wish to have a hand in shaping Wyoming's path.

I'm running to improve Wyoming's ballot initiative and voter registration process, along with better enforcement of open records and sunshine laws. I believe transparency in government and citizen participation are keys to running an effective democracy that truly serves "We the People." As Secretary of State, I plan to work with the Wyoming State Legislature to accomplish these goals. I look forward to serving the people of Wyoming as the next Secretary of State.
