Ormston is buzzing with excitement thanks to the arrival of the Magnificent Colin, fortune teller extraordinaire. Everyone wants their fortune told. Colin is pressing to read Jean’s palm, but Jean is far too busy – running her business and covering the station for her father – to stop. Eddie is jealous of the attention Colin is paying her.

Meanwhile,Tom intervenes in an argument between Bill and Aggie.They have been kicked out of her home and Bill’s drinking again. Tom invites her and her children to stay at his house for a few days. Arthur is suspicious of Aggie - there are two sides to every story. But Tom won’t listen to him. But we see a seed of truth in Arthur’s suspicion when Aggie tells Deborah that Tom proposed to her, but she broke his heart.

Len delivers some shocking news to Phyllis. A man’s been killed in an accident in Rattenbury. The documents found on the body belong to Phyllis’ estranged husband, Harry. Phyllis is needed to identify the body.Thankfully the body isn’t Harry. Phyllis has mixed feelings about all of this. She confides in Len that she’s still got all of Harry’s clothes. Len gets rid of all the clothes; it’s time for Phyllis to move on.

Michael’s love sick over a young girl called Lisa. Helen is standing in for Akela at Michael’s scout group and notices the blossoming romance. She warns Michael that Lisa’s bad news, but Michael won’t hear a bad word said against his soon to be girlfriend. Michael helps Lisa to learn to read a map and she rewards him with a kiss. Michael’s really chuffed until he sees boys lining up to pay Lisa for a kiss. Michael’s heartbroken.

Brewer thinks his prayers have been answered by the arrival of Colin. Colin’s horse tips have paid off and Brewer and Arthur are raking the winnings in.And Wilf’s also happy about Colin’s arrival. It seems that Wilf has royal blood; Colin tells him that he’s got a ‘Rajah Loop’ on his palm. This news goes straight to Wilf’ head. But unfortunately all good things must come to an end, Brewer soon loses all his winnings on one horse and Colin tells Wilf that the Rajah Loop is in fact dirty hands.

Jean’s overwork has disastrous consequences and she collapses. Eddie carries her into hospital. Jean’s worried, she can’t see.Arthur, puzzled by her condition, needs Tom’s help for diagnosis – and walks in on Aggie kissing Tom. Arthur’s furious and tells Aggie that he doesn’t care now if Tom knows the truth about why they broke up. Arthur takes Tom away from the house, and Aggie – he’s needed at the hospital. Tom diagnoses Jean with ‘hysterical blindness’. She’s exhausted and needs plenty of rest. And whilst Jean rests, Eddie keeps a bedside vigil.

Tom finds out that Aggie’s been lying to him. Bill isn’t drinking again, nor is he hitting her and the children. In fact it’s Aggie’s who’s got a temper and she’s hitting the kids.

Deborah finally manages to tell Tom she’s pregnant.
